Lunch & Learn - What is Blockchain
What is Blockchain, and why does it matter: what’s happening now, and what does the future hold?
Blockchain is NOT a cryptocurrency. At its essence, it is a data set. But a BETTER data set.
The technology of blockchain has the potential to change dozens of industries from banking to construction, retail to farming, and most others in between. Any transaction or industry where multiple parties require access to multiple layers of information (goods or services or both) can benefit from Blockchain technology. From the mundane examples of recording property ownership - transfers of ownership, to performing and tracking royalty payments, to world-altering ideas concerning monetizing personal data, digitizing individual identification, or creating a decentralized system of money and value transfer – all could come to rely on Blockchain.
As the digital and physical worlds converge through the internet of things, the practical applications of Blockchain will only grow. Of course, Blockchain also powers the world of cryptocurrency. What is Bitcoin and all those other cryptocurrencies? How do they work or link to Blockchain? Why do people like them? Will they last?
Have you ever wondered what all the fuss is about with both of these items, whether it’s real, and what it means for the future?
If so, attend on February 26 to learn what this may mean for your business.
